it began as an idea

It began with an idea. Four years ago, I (Deborah), committed to writing a children’s chapter book inspired by my grandson’s 4-H project of raising chickens in his backyard. This was a 2-year project consisting of long hours of research, lots of conversations with my grandson, journaling his progression, and learning the indie publishing process.

Not having a formal degree in writing created quite a challenge. So, I joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. After attending my first seminar, a few ladies and I formed a critique group. These ladies were a great encouragement to me. We shared many ideas on how to improve the books we were all working on along with building a friendship.

After publishing “Don’t Chicken Out Mason’s 4-H Adventure”, my artist friend Claudia and I teamed up to work on another book project. Claudia is a commissioned artist and created

“Letter Friends” over thirty years ago. “Letter Friends” are letters of the alphabet drawn using children. She enjoys drawing her “Letter Friends” to form a child’s name. My grandchildren have one of her artistic name plaques hanging in their room. Each plaque is unique to that child's name.

Because of the popularity of our books and journals, we formed Letter Friends Books. You can follow us on Facebook - letterfriendsbooks, Instagram - letterfriendsbooks, and on our website www.letterfriendsbooks.com. We are working hard on the next book in the Letter Friends series. Please visit us frequently to see when our next book will be released. We appreciate each one of you and thank you in advance for your support.
